Welcome to therapy! My name is Diomarys Nuñez, I am a bilingual, Dominican Licensed Professional Counselor. I obtained my Masters in Clinical Counseling in 2020. I have worked in inpatient and outpatient settings, in both rural and urban settings, with individuals from across the lifespan. I specialize in maternal/perinatal mental health, women's issues, and racial/cultural trauma, along with other mental health challenges.
I am a licensed therapist with over a decade of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges and build healthier, more fulfilling relationships. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in respect for each person’s story and strengths.
I integrate evidence-based practices—such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Family Systems approaches—with a culturally responsive and trauma-informed lens. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions, gain clarity, and move toward lasting change.
I work with clients experiencing a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship or family conflict, grief, identity transitions, and the effects of trauma. I also have extensive experience supporting people from diverse cultural and family backgrounds who are balancing multiple roles, expectations, and life transitions.
Clients often describe me as compassionate, down-to-earth, and empowering. Together, we’ll focus on uncovering your resilience, improving communication and connection, and finding practical strategies for growth and healing—so you can live with greater confidence, balance, and purpose.
Tara received her MSW degree from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Social Work in 1994. She retired as a school social worker where she oversaw/managed a Behavioral Disabilities (BD) class at the high school level. Tara has 25 years of helping at-risk youth address mental, emotional, and behavioral issues through a strength-based, person-centered therapy approach.
Presently, Tara's private practice works with adults who have anxiety, depression and/or truama; also couples therapy.
My ideal client is someone who may look like they are managing on the outside, but inside feels overwhelmed, exhausted, or disconnected. They may be navigating substance use concerns, trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic stress, medical challenges, or life transitions. They want a warm, non-judgmental space where they can slow down, feel understood, and not have to carry everything alone. Their goals include greater emotional steadiness, healthier coping, clearer boundaries, and reconnecting with themselves so life feels more grounded, balanced, and meaningful. They come to therapy seeking relief, clarity, and authenticity.
I help individuals feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or burned out find support and balance. I enjoy working with anyone navigating substance use, trauma, or adjusting to medications for weight loss and their relationship with food. I offer a safe, collaborative, trauma-informed space that honors whole-person care.
Sometimes life feels heavy, confusing, or overwhelming, and it can be hard to reach out. I offer a warm, understanding space where you can feel heard and supported. If you’re ready to explore change, find balance, and reconnect with yourself, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
